Monique & D Woods Star In “Blackbird”

It’s been four years since Monique won an Academy Award for her leading role in “Precious.” With plenty rest, a sleeker bod and same talent Monique gears up for “Blackbird”–a an adaptation of the 2006 Larry Duplechan novel about a young religious man who discovers his sexuality doesn’t fit traditional mold. Monique, who stars in “Blackbird”, and her husband Sidney Hicks are executive producers of the film.

“’Blackbird’ is a film about the choices people are forced to make as they struggle to figure out how to be themselves,” Hicks said. “And why should just being who you are be a struggle? Since Mo’Nique won the Oscar, we have received a flood of scripts, but nothing captured our attention until Isaiah — who we have a high level of respect for — sent us ‘Blackbird.’”

Terrell Tilford, Gary L. Gray, Kevin Allesee, Torrey Laamar, Nikki Jane and D. Woods (formerly of the group Danity Kane) also star in the film.

Bravo Strikes Gold With ‘Blood, Sweat & Heels’

Bravo has done it again! They have another hit show on their hands.

The series premiere of “Blood, Sweat & Heels” became Bravo’s highest-rated series premiere among all key demos in network history, with 2.5 million total viewers making Sunday night the best night in network history.

“Blood, Sweat & Heels” follows a group of up-and-coming women in New York’s elite circles of real estate, fashion, and media. Check out our interview with cast member Geneva Thomas who told us “We throw shade, not bottles.”
