Viola Davis and Tracee Ellis Ross were the women of the hour at the Golden Globe Awards!
Davis, who just earned her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame less than a week ago, accepted the Best Supoporting Actress award for her role inĀ Fences.This was the fifth time Davis was nominated for the coveted honor. Her roles inĀ The Help, How To Get Away With Murder,Ā andĀ DoubtĀ got her nods in the past. In her speech she thanked the Hollywood foreign press, herĀ FencesĀ co-star Denzel Washington, and more. As for Ross, she won the award forĀ best actress in a TV series, comedy or musical for her role inĀ Black-ish. She was the first Black woman to do so since Debbie Allen won for FameĀ in 1983!Ā She dedicated her win to, “all of the women, women of color, and colorful people, whose stories, ideas, thoughts are not always considered worthy and valid and important.”
Ross’s TV children showed her love on social media.
