High School Graduate from Cleveland, Ms., Jasmine Shepard made history by being the first African- American to become the valedictorian in 110 years at her school. But the school administration stepped in and forced Jasmine to have a co- valedictorian with a lower GPA with a white studnet . Mrs. Shepard is suing the North District of Mississippi of monetary damages and for Jasmine to be named the ā€œsole valedictorian.ā€

But Shepard’s mother, Sherry Shepard, stepped up and decided to file a lawsuit in the North District of Mississippi. In the lawsuit, Shepard noted that the Cleveland School District has a history of racial discrimination.Ā
