Tamika Catchings is being honored with a mural on Mass Ave this summer! And baby, this isn’t just any mural—it’s a full-blown tribute to a woman who has poured her heart, hustle, and hope into this city.

If you know anything about Indiana basketball, then you know Tamika Catchings. She’s a Hall of Famer, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, a WNBA champion, and the face of Indy hoops for over a decade. But what makes this moment even more meaningful is that Tamika’s legacy goes way beyond the court. She’s a community builder, a mentor, a businesswoman, and someone who consistently shows up and gives back to the city that cheered her on.

And now, Indy is giving her some love right back—with a stunning mural that will live right on Massachusetts Avenue, one of the most vibrant, bustling parts of the city. This is more than paint on a wall—it’s a public “thank you” to a woman who has inspired generations, not just with her jump shot but with her joy, her faith, and her relentless commitment to uplifting others.

Here’s where you come in: The Indy Arts Council, in partnership with the WNBA All-Star 2025 Host Committee, has narrowed the mural project down to four talented artist finalists, and they want the public to help choose who gets to bring Tamika’s legacy to life on this larger-than-life canvas.

Voting is open right now at indyarts.org, and trust me, your voice matters in this! Just like Tamika showed up for us all these years, it’s our turn to show up for her.

I can already imagine it—families walking down Mass Ave, young girls stopping to look up at Tamika’s face on that wall, maybe asking, “Mommy, who’s that?” And then the stories begin. The lessons about leadership, perseverance, giving back, and dreaming big—all wrapped in the image of one incredible woman who made it her mission to leave this world better than she found it.

This mural isn’t just art—it’s a reminder of greatness, a celebration of Black excellence, and a message to every little girl in Indy that yes, you can.

So, let’s do our part. Go vote, spread the word, and let’s help make sure Tamika’s flowers bloom bright and bold—just like she always has.

Tamika Catchings, we see you, we celebrate you, and we are so proud to call you ours.
