Stephen A. Smith glad to hear Trump would ‘love to see him run’ for president

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith ruled out a potential 2028 presidential run as a Democrat, expressing dissatisfaction with the party’s current direction. Smith, who identifies as a moderate and leans left, criticized the Democratic Party for its focus on identity politics, excessive spending, cancel culture, and woke ideology. He emphasized the need for a major overhaul within the party before considering any political affiliation. Smith has been vocal about the party’s divisive rhetoric and failure to connect with average voters since the 2024 election, casting doubt on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s viability in 2028. Democrats have struggled to present a unifying message post-2024, with a significant portion of Americans unable to name a Democrat embodying the party’s core values.
