When a legend speaks, we listen. And this time, Venus Williams is opening up about something deeply personal—and painfully familiar to so many Black women.

In a recent interview with Today, Venus shared that she spent years battling fibroid symptoms, only to be dismissed and ignored by medical professionals along the way. If you’ve ever felt unseen in a doctor’s office, you know exactly how frustrating and heartbreaking that can be.

She’s since had surgery and is finally feeling better, but the tennis icon isn’t just moving on—she’s speaking out. Venus is using her platform to remind women, especially Black women, to trust their bodies, speak up, and keep pushinguntil they’re heard.

“Your pain is real. Your voice matters.”

Let that sink in.

Far too often, Black women’s health concerns are overlooked or minimized. Whether it’s fibroids, maternal health, or chronic pain—we’re told to “tough it out” instead of being treated. Venus sharing her story is powerful, and it’s also a call to action.

So if you’re dealing with something right now—don’t let anyone silence you. Keep advocating. Keep asking questions. You deserve answers. You deserve care.
